New Installation Concepts (NIC) Subcommittee

Last Updated: July 1, 2011

Chairman: Robert Nye - Boeing

APIM 10-012: Air Transport Avionics Equipment Interfaces (pdf, 25K)

Goal: The goal of the NIC Subcommittee is to update existing connector and racking standards.

Project: Review and update connector and rack standards with fiber optic termini applications. The IA Staff will also update the format of the documents to maintain and improve readability.

Scope:The NIC Subcommittee will document fiber optic adapters for use in aircraft connectors and interfaces. Supplement 19 to ARINC Specification 600 will also allow for minor technical revisions and maintenance to the standard. These include incorporating errata, editorial changes, and improving the quality of the illustrations in the document.

Benefit: The planned update of ARINC Specification 600 will finalize any near-term expected connector or racking standardization while improving the document for readability by revising or including clearer drawings, tables, and notes. It is the intention of the AEEC and the NIC Subcommittee to “stabilize” the document and discontinue the NIC activities until new developments in air transport equipment requires a future update to the standard.
