Goal: Project Paper 828, Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Standard Interface, is intended to define the interface boundary between an EFB device and aircraft wiring (see JAR TGL 36 or FAA AC120-76A).

The standard is intended to apply to a large number of aircraft, recognizing there is significant variation among aircraft in service. This includes the definition of electrical elements; power, signals and data, as well as physical elements; connector, pins and mating sequence. EFB installation, form factor and functional definition will be outside the scope of this standard.

The EFB is seen as part of the airline information service domain and is expected to be compliant with other network interface standards, including ARINC 811: Commercial Aircraft Information Security and ARINC 664: Aircraft Data Network Standards. This work was initiated by APIM 07-001 approved by AEEC in April 2007.
